(plural: ‘benefactors‘; female: benefactress)

a benefactor offering financial help

a person who does something good to others or gives money for a good cause; a patron; a donor;

a person that gives some help, especially money, to others in need of it, without expecting anything in return,

e.g.

When he was young, he never liked to spend or give away money, but when he grew old, he became the benefactor of a hospital and a library.

Our middle school is run by the funds from the local benefactors.

A benefactor is the one who gives or helps others, and a beneficiary is the one who receives or benefits from others.

Note: Though ‘benefactress’ is the word for a woman who helps, in the present usage, “benefactor’ is used for both man and woman benefactor.
