bean  –  been

[‘bean’ has the same pronunciation as ‘been’]

Bean” is ‘a seed of a climbing plant which is eaten as a vegetable’,

one of several kinds of beans
one of several kinds of beans

e.g.

We had cabbage and fried beans for lunch.

Been” is ‘the past participle form of the verbs “to be” and “to go: is – was – been; go – went – gone/been,

e.g.

It has been raining all day.

He has been to Sweden.

Compare:

He has gone to Japan.

[i.e. He is not with us now; he is either on his way to Japan or is in Japan.]

He has been to Sweden.

[i.e. He is with us now; not in Sweden --- he went to Sweden and returned . He knows about Sweden.]
