In this newspaper cutting, we can see that ‘…light’ is redundant, i.e. unnecessary, because…
“Beacon” is
(a) ‘a flashing light or fire, on a high place or a tall structure, such as a lighthouse, acting as a guide or warning to sailors’,
(b) ‘a flashing light to warn or guide pilots of aircraft’,
(c) (figurative) ‘someone or something that sets a high standard which can be followed by others’,
e.g. (c) The life of Mother Teresa should be a beacon to all of us.
“Bacon” means ‘salted or smoked meat from the back or sides of a pig’,
e.g.
English people usually have bacon and eggs for breakfast.
