A bacteriologist must have very deep interest in nature and an inquiring mind to study the microscopic organisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi and parasite, that cause diseases in people and animals.

Bacteriologists help other scientists and physicians in finding out what kind of bacteria, fungi or parasite caused a disease in a person or animal.

Clinical bacteriologists do laboratory tests and give the reports to the doctors who, in turn, decide what kind of medicine is to be used for what kind of disease.
