a person, usually a young woman, who takes care of babies while their parents are out working, shopping, etc.;
a person who cares for or watches over someone or something that needs attention or guidance, usually used for a boring or unimportant job,

a baby-sitter (L) at her job

e.g.

After college hours, Susan works as a baby-sitter and earns some money to pay for her tuition fee.

When he first joined in our factory, Kamis had thought he was given a relatively relaxing job watching over the automatic machines, but as the time passed, he realised that he was worse than a baby-sitter just watching over dumb machines!
