any of the seabirds with stout body and short wings with black and white feathers, and webbed feet, like that of a duck; looks like a penguin but not related to it; found in the cool northern seas;

Some of the common auks are: ‘little auk’ or ‘dovekie’, ‘great auk’, ‘razorbill’ or ‘razor-billed auk’,

 

Special Features:

It uses its short wings for swimming in the sea, chasing the fish it eats.

The great auk is believed to be extinct (died out) in 1844.
