astrologer:
(also ‘astrologist‘; plural: ‘astrologers‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘g’ is said with a ‘j’ sound as in “judge”)
‘Astrology’ comprises several important forms. The main forms are: palmistry, numerology, vastu and horoscope.
astrologers of the past
a person who practises astrology;
(less commonly) a stargazer,
KK Dandia, Indian astrologer
Astrologers, in the ancient times, acted as weather forecasters and the people, mostly the farmers believed them and followed them, but eventually, they spread their influence in social matters and got so powerful that even Emperors feared them and followed their orders to the dot!
It is a shame to note that most of the politicians, educated or uneducated, including people like Nancy Regan, consult astrologers before doing anything important.
In most countries in Asia, people go to astrologers and pay a lot of money just to know which date is auspicious to get married, and get married right on the time and date the astrologers sets, but unfortunately, most of them fail miserably in their married lives and some of them even become widows/widowers within a couple of years. (Then they blame it on ‘fate’!)
