a Hindu ascetic

a religious person who does not allow himself bodily pleasures in order to keep him/herself pious, i.e. an ascetic does not eat tasty and luxurious food, not wear expensive or fashionable  clothes, not drink alcohol, not have sex, etc. but spends most of his/her time in prayers and leads a very simple and self-disciplined life;

an abstainer; a recluse; a nun; a monk,

a Jain ascetic, renunciation of everything?

e.g.

When she was deceived by her fiancé, She left her family wealth and led a life of an ascetic.

Jain ascetics follow complete non-violence path in which they do not hurt any living being, not even an ant!

 

Note: ‘Ascetic’ is more commonly used as an adjective to refer to people or situations related to an ‘ascetic’, e.g. ‘ascetic life’, ‘ascetic practices’, etc.
