artisan:

(plural: ‘artisans‘)

an artisan at work

a skilled workman who made things, such as metal utensils, weapons, etc., in the past;

a craftsman;

a journeyman;

(old usage) an artist,

a modern artisan using advance technology

e.g.

There are some artisans, such as potters, blacksmiths, weavers, etc. who still continue making things, using modern methods, of course, to this day.

In my opinion, the modern day computer designers are none other than the good old artisans using advanced technology.

In most countries in Asia, special programmes have been created to boost the importance and the income sources of traditional artisans such as potters, weavers, etc.
