a person/farmer who keeps bees that produce honey, and sells the honey;
a person who studies bees and keeps them for research purpose,
an apiary with some artificial bee hives
e.g.
Most apiarists keep bees for their honey and beewax, but there are some apiarists who breed best queen bees and other bees to sell them to other apiarists.
Not all apiarists are farmers keeping bees for money; there are some hobbyist apiarists who keep bees as a hobby.
Note: An apiarist is also called an ‘apiculturist’, ‘beekeeper’, ‘sideliner’ or ‘commercial operator’, depending on the number of ‘hives’ (wooden or reed boxes) which give clean, dark and safe place for the honey bees to nest, and also on the region the ‘hives’ are placed. The place and the whole job of keeping honey bees is called an ‘apiary’.
