a kind of fish – small in size, and related to the herrings, found in salt waters all over the world except in very cold or warm waters, mostly found in tropical, particularly in Mediterranean waters

Special Features:

It has a very strong flavour, and eaten by many people all over the world, some of them not knowing that they are eating anchovy!

Because of its strong flavour it is used in most sauces.  It is certainly a very important food source for many people.
