‘anatomy’ = the inner structure — inner parts — of a human or animal physical body

a person having the knowledge of and is skilled in the scientific study of the bodies and inner body parts of a person or animal;

a person, usually a medical doctor, who knows or studies the anatomy of a human or animal body;

(not a medical doctor) any person who studies or explains (analyses) something in great detail,

(a sample of the anatomy of a human foot)

e.g.

Leonardo de Vince was not only a great artist but also a great anatomist.

Henry Gray (1827 — 1860), the greatest anatomists, wrote the world famous book, called ‘Gray’s Anatomy’, on human anatomy, which is followed by doctors all over the world to this day.

Gunther von Hagens is an anatomist who has invented a process by which human bodies can be preserved and the parts of the body can be shown in great detail. His ‘Body Worlds’ exhibitions are known to have drawn about twenty million viewers and more than $ 200 million dollars!
