(plural: ‘agronomists‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘g’ is said with a ‘g’ sound as in “gun”)

an agronomist studying a plant

a qualified and trained person who does the scientific study of soil management and the methods of growing crops, and of using plants for food, fuel, cattle feed and as fibre in a better way,

two agronomists examining the soil of a piece of agricultural land

 

 

e.g.

A professional agronomist helps farmers by giving them the true condition of the land and the suitable crops to be grown on that land.

Most agronomists work in fertilizer and pesticide industry.

In Canada, an agronomist is called an ‘agrologist’ or ‘agronome’.

Note: Though ‘agronomists’ are agriculture and farming scientists, they do not deal with veterinary science, i.e. science related to animals.
