Mr George is the main actor who’s used all his political influence to get an airport to our island.  (i.e. there were several people who tried their best to get an airport to our island and Mr George is the main one, nothing to do with stage or film acting)

Language Usage: Though ‘actor’ is a male word and is used to refer to men, it is often used as a common or general term to refer to female participants, too. However, if the distinction is necessary, we are advised to use ‘actress’ for a woman actor and just ‘actor’ for a male actor, e.g. “All the actors in the film acted well.” (male and female actors included); “Of the three actress, Julia Roberts did extremely well.” (need to mention that Julia Roberts is a female professional actor), and “George got the ‘best actor’ award and Sandra got the ‘best actress award’”.
