acrobat:

(also ‘gymnast‘; plural: ‘acrobats‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)

‘acrobatics’ = the art or skill or performance in feats of balance, quickness in movements and excellent coordination

a sports person or an entertainer who is skilled in walking on tight ropes tied on poles high in the air, jumping over things, etc, usually in a circus or in street shows; a tightrope walker; a rope walker;
a person who can change his/her opinion or views in a very short time to suit a new situation or position,

e.g.

An acrobat who was doing a tightrope walk at a hight of fifty feet, without a net below, fell to the ground and died instantly at the circus we went last night.

Some street acrobats do such feats that they deserve a better life than the one they lead.

Note: ‘Acrobatic’ is an adjective used more often to refer to people or activities that are very active and daring, e.g. an ‘acrobatic dance’, ‘acrobatic display’, etc.

Return to “contortionist“.
